How Mindfulness Helps You Be a Happy Little 💩Sh*t Thru the Hard Stuffs of Life
I've been through some hard stuffs in life.
I have battled my demons and made friends with my monsters.
I have survived and thrived through:
clinical depression & anxiety
being hit by a truck (as a pedestrian)
complex grief
significant digestive issues
body dysmorphia
chronic pain due to scoliosis
eating disorder
insomnia
caring for loved ones through hospice (and death)
divorce
homelessness
unemployment
bankruptcy
and so much more
As a sensitive soul (HSP), I over-think, over-do, over-give, over-process, and over-feel EVERYTHING.
Any one of life’s traumas could trigger depression that might hold my soul in solitary confinement for a life-sentence. IF… I let it in.
Since medication doesn’t agree with me, I’ve tried everything: yoga, meditation, diet, fitness routines, ritual healing and so much more. The list goes on and on.
But nothing can ever fix what’s really wrong or make the bad stuff go away.
That’s because that moment in life when shit hits the fan, no pretzel yoga positions or tush-to-cushion meditation can instantly turn the shit into rainbows and butterflies.
I had to make friends with the sh*t 💩.
Once upon a time there was a little boy, playing happily in a pile of horse-shit. When an old man asked him what he was doing amongst the filth, the little boy laughed and said, “there must be a pony around here somewhere.” The old man shook his head and said, “I wish I could be a happy little sh*t like you.”
Mindfulness helps me be that happy little sh*t💩.
Are You A Sensitive Soul?
You can’t ever really make all the hard stuff of life go away.
Everybody has it.
You need to FEEL in order to HEAL. (gulp)
If you are a Sensitive Soul, you REALLY feel those feels—
Your brain works in circles, loop-de-loops, curley-cues, and spiral designs, over-think the big things, the little things, and the nothing things.
You crave DEPTH, interconnectedness, symbolism, and spiritual wisdoms in EVERYTHING.
One or more of your five senses work in hyper-sensitive mode, ALL-THE-TIME, cuz you see, hear, smell, feel, or taste things that other people don't even notice.
You avoid medication because your body has all the side-effects in over-load, so you have explored many holistic, alternative, and spiritual modalities.
You get overwhelmed by the too much of the "outside world" cuz you feel other people's feely-feels as if they are your own.
You crave time in nature cuz it’s a place you feel safe.
When you go through the hard parts of life, you may ask yourself, “Why is this happening to me?”
The answer is simple: Most of what you are experiencing is out of your control.
What I’ve learned, and why I started “The Mindfulness Coach”, is that
Mindfulness helps you feel the feels to heal,
and Healing is where the growth and good stuff happens.
