Anxiety Kills Audacity
Being brave and bold and audacious is much easier to do when you feel stable and supported.
If your legs and feet feel wobbly, you feel worried.
If your legs and feet feel antsy, you feel anxious.
If your legs and feet feel solid and stable,
your mind and spirit will be solid and stable.
The best and easiest way to access stability and support is to connect with your roots, your legs and feet, which are the foundation of your body’s support system.
Your Body’s Root System
Your legs and feet serve as the stable root support system for your body. I like to think of the muscle groups in your legs and feet as a team of horses that work together to move your body in the direction of your dreams and destinations. This team of “horses” works best when each muscle group (horse) does the job it was designed to do.
They each have their physical job to do. When that physical job is done right, your mood and hormones match it. If you feel stable and supported by these horses, you can move forward in your life goals and dreams with confidence and grace.
🦵Quadriceps - these are the front thigh muscles that give your legs the ability to lift and lower. These are the front runners. They tend to get all the glory for the work of your legs.
🦵Hamstrings - these are the back thigh muscles that help your knees to flex and extend and also serve to “push” your body from behind to move you forward. They are the hardest workers of the horses because the hammies tend to pick up the slack when other muscle groups aren’t doing their jobs.
🦵Glutes - these are your butt muscles, the biggest muscles in your body. As the largest muscles, they are meant to do the heaviest lifting, but (like the adductors) they tend to get lazy and defer to the low back muscles, quads and hammies to do their job if they don’t have to.
🦵Abductors - these are the outside thigh muscles, and they work to move the leg away from the mid-line. They have a smaller job, but an important one because they help you step away from things, to side-step out of things.
🦵Adductors - these are the inside thigh muscles, and they work to pull the leg back to mid-line and keep the legs plugged into the hip sockets. This is a very important job because they are meant to pull you back to center, to get you re-aligned with your core and center and focus. Unfortunately, these are also the laziest of your leg muscles and tend to defer their work to the hammies. (read more about this here)
🦵Calves - these are your lower leg muscles that give you the bounce, the jump, the ability to leap and skip when you need a little extra oomph. When you want to take a leap in a new direction, these muscles give you that extra lift.
When you pay attention to how these groups of leg muscles work, and you work each one as it was designed to work, both individually and as a team of “horses” you can help yourself get better in alignment with your BOLD DREAMS AND DESIRES of where you want to go in life because these muscles are what MOVE YOU & SUPPORT YOU in those dreams and goals.
